A Journey of Discovery through 19th Century French Poetry
Week 3 | July 12–14 | Hultquist Center 201B | Ages: 16+
Do you love poetry? Are you a Francophile with a smattering of French? The 19th century was a time of great change and scientific and literary advancement. What better way to come to grips with change than through poetry? We will examine the most influential French poets of the time, aligning with art and social/scientific change. We will look at some poetic devices and how many poets revolted against the old ways. Using the lens of French poetry, we will examine this exciting time as Europe underwent great transformation — maybe it will be transformative for you too!
Class Times
Students should come to class prepared with the following materials:
- Pen/Pencil;
- Paper;
- Highlighter.
