Drawing for Beginners

Week 8 | M, Tu, W, Th, F | Pier Building Classroom | Ages 14 and up

This is an introductory class designed for students who have had no previous art experience and always wanted to learn to draw, or a beginner/advanced beginner who would like to take their drawing to the next level. This course introduces the Art Elements & Principles of Design, basic drawing techniques and concepts, step-by-step instructions, and drawing simple objects and landscapes. We will discuss paper, drawing pencils, colored pencils, and how to use them. Drawing-What-You-See-Not-What-You-Think, Perception Filters, Shading, Perspective and Composition. 

Materials fee of $10 due to instructor at start of class.

Class Times

Students should come to class prepared with the following materials:

  • 9x12 Sketchbook, 
  • Drawing Pencils 4H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 
  • #2 Pencil, 
  • 1 Kneaded Eraser, Either a Magic Rub or White Pearl Eraser
  • OPTIONAL: Extra Fine Black Sharpie, .5 Mechanical Pencil, Colored Pencils, and a Ruler
