The Magic of Three-Yard Quilts

Week 6 | M, Tu, W, Th | Turner 104 | Ages 15 and up

3 Fabrics + 1 Book = 1 Fun Quilt! Bust your stash or coordinate new fabrics to make a stunning lap quilt. You will need 1 yard light, 1 yard medium and 1 yard dark fabric for the lap size quilt. Choose one of the 8 patterns in "The Magic of 3 Yard Quilts." Please pick non-directional fabrics and add a 1/2 yard extra to one of your fabric choices for the binding. Instructor has sewing machines to use or bring your own. Sewing level is Confident Beginner.

Materials fee of $25 due to instructor at start of class. The $25.00 material fee covers the book and classroom supplies.

Class Times

Bust your stash or coordinate new fabrics.

Lap Size Quilt:

  • You will need 1 yard light, 1 yard medium and 1 yard dark fabric.
    *Please pick non-directional fabrics and add a 1/2 yard extra (so 1 ½ yards) to one of your fabric choices for the binding.

Want a larger quilt?

  • A twin uses 2 yards light, 2 yards mediums and 2 yards dark fabric. *Please pick non-directional fabrics and add a 1/2 yard extra (so 1 ½ yards).
  • A queen uses 4 yards light, 4 yards mediums and 4 yards dark fabric. *Please pick non-directional fabrics and add a 3/4 yard extra (so 1 ½ yards).

The material fee, due to the instructor, covers “The Magic of 3 Yard Quilts” book and use of classroom supplies.

Please bring to class:

  • A neutral thread (Light gray, beige, or cream for light fabrics. Dk gray, navy or black for dark fabrics.)
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Pins
  • Seam ripper
  • Rotary cutter with new blade
  • If bringing your own machine, a 1/4” foot and bobbins to fit your machine.
