Introduction to Encaustic Painting
Week 3, 6 | July 9, August 6 | CVA Art Quad Print Studio | Ages: 16+
In this foundational course you will learn the basics of this ancient and fascinating medium. Melted and pigmented beeswax is painted onto a surface and then fused with heat to create a luminous and tactile surface. The class will be a combination of instructor demonstration and hands on work. No experience is necessary.

Sally Hootnick
Sally Hootnick is a professional artist and long time Chautauquan working predominately in encaustics and mixed media. She is active in the International Encaustic Organization and shows her work both regionally and nationally. Sally's paintings can be found in private collections in the US, Canada, and Sweden, and in the permanent collections of Upstate Medical Cancer Center, and the Pompey Museum.
