Literature to Cinema: Adapting Nobel Laureates
Week 6 | M, Tu, W, Th, F | Hultquist 101 | Ages 14 and up
Can literature written by a Nobel Laureate be successfully adapted to film? Some Laureates have even tried their hand at screenwriting; George Bernard Shaw actually won an Oscar for the screenplay of "Pygmalion," our first film. We will screen and discuss five films adapted from the works of Nobel Prize Winners in Literature. The other four are: The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck), To Have and Have Not (Ernest Hemingway), Remains of the Day (Kazuo Ishiguro) and Away From Her (Alice Munro). Students are encouraged (but not required) to read some or all of these works of literature.
