Mindfulness In Wellness and Illness
Week 7 | M, Tu, W, Th, F | Hultquist 201B | Ages 16+
Participants will learn to develop mindfulness through guided meditation and brief exercises that will help them experience the present moment during everyday activities. Although no specific outcome is promised, participants typically report feeling more alive and more “in tune” with themselves and others. In addition, research has shown significant beneficial effects in dealing with stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, chronic pain and diabetes. Ages 16+.
Jayashree Rao
Retired pediatric endocrinologist who spent 30 years teaching, researching and practicing medicine at Louisiana State Univ. Health Sciences Center and Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. Having received training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and other courses by Mindful Schools, Mindful Leader, and Mindful Education, she now teaches others employing techniques offered by psychotherapist Dave Potter.
