Shakespeare's Timeless History Lessons
Week 4 | July 18–22 | Hultquist Center 201A | Ages: 16+
Motivated by his times, gifted in dramatic perspective, Shakespeare uses historical resources to not only instruct, but also to inspire scholarship and action. Within his ten, sequential British history plays — plus the perennial Julius Caesar — the Bard creates timeless, universal history lessons that make a difference through the centuries from the sixteenth to the twenty-first. It's fascinating to follow memorable characters, plots, and quotations.
Class Times
Students should come to class prepared with the following:
- A copy of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (Folger edition recommended).
