T-Shirt Memory Quilt
Week 7 | M, Tu, W, Th, F | Turner 104 | Ages 16 and up
They've been in your closet for years — those beloved T-shirts. Gather 12 to 15 T-shirts and create a beautiful memory quilt! You will prep and stabilize the T-shirts, measure and cut to size, then sew them into a quilt top. We'll discuss finishing options in class. Instructor has sewing machines to use or bring your own. See Material List for necessary fabric requirements and other supplies needed. Materials fee due to instructor covers stabilizer and miscellaneous supplies.
Materials fee of $35 due to instructor at start of class.
Class Times
12 – 15 T shirts. Please wash your shirts and do not use any fabric softener or dryer sheets. ***Do not cut the shirts apart. ***
Sashed Squares
- Main color 2 ½ yards (this is the fabric around the shirts)
- Accent border ½ yard
- Accent squares ¼ yard (optional)
- Border fabric 2 ½ yards
- Binding 1 yard
Big Block
- Block color 1 2 yards
- Block color 2 2 yards
- Accent Squares 1 yard
- Binding ¾ yard
Please bring to class:
- A rotary cutter with a new blade
- A neutral thread (Light gray, beige, or cream for light fabrics. Dk gray, navy or black for dark fabrics.)
- Pins
- Sewing scissors (large ones for cutting the shirts apart)
- Seam ripper
Classroom sewing machines available or bring your own. If bringing your own machine, a 1/4” foot and bobbins to fit your machine.
The material fee, due to the instructor covers the shirt stabilizer and the use of classroom supplies.
