Tightrope Quilt

Week 8 | M, Tu, W, Th | Turner 104 | Ages 16 and up

This Modern quilt is made from 2 ½” (jelly roll) strips or 10” (layer cake) squares. Or “go green” and upcycle shirts or jeans to make your quilt. Choose a Lap (48” x 57”) or Large (66” x 68”) size and let’s have fun sewing! 

See the materials list for the necessary fabric and supplies for class. 

Sewing level is Confident Beginner. Instructor has sewing machines to use in class or bring your own. 

Materials fee of $25 due to instructor at start of class.

Class Times

Students should come to class prepared with the following materials:

Fabric:

For Wall/Lap Size (48” x 57”)

  • Print Blocks - 1 jelly roll (40 strips) or 10” layer cake (40 squares)
  • Plus Symbol Fabric - 3/8 yard
  • Background Fabric - 2½ yards
  • Binding – ½ yard

For Large Size (66” x 68”)

  • Print Blocks - 1 jelly roll (40 strips) or 10” layer cake (40 squares)
  • Plus Symbol Fabric - 5/8 yard
  • Background Fabric - 3½ yards
  • Binding - 5/8 yard

Please bring to class:

  • A neutral thread (Light gray, beige, or cream for light fabrics. Dk gray, navy or black for dark fabrics.)
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Pins
  • Seam ripper
  • Rotary cutter with new blade
  • If bringing your own machine, a 1/4” foot and bobbins to fit your machine.

The material fee, due to the instructor, covers the Tightrope pattern and use of classroom supplies.
