Using Photos to Write Your Stories of Family and Friendship

Week 1 | Tu, W, Th | Turner 104 | Ages 14 and up

Everyone has stories that need to be preserved and passed on. Research is bearing out how important these stories are for future generations. In this workshop, we will make it fun to write our stories by taking inspiration from photos, from photos on our phones and shoeboxes, from interviewing living relatives, and from online research. Ideas for easy visual techniques using photos and photocopies to create story books will also be shared.

Materials fee of $5 due to instructor at start of class.

Class Times

Ideas for what to bring if you are preparing at home: photocopies of old precious photos; bad photos that you saved because of the memories, but that you don't mind altering or cutting; interview notes from friends and relatives (for questions to ask go to https://storycorps.org/partici...); laptop or notebook for writing
